There is so much to be learned from history, that much of it gets lost in the race of time. Peoples live, their history is told through books, songs and literature, we could not possibly know all of it. The lessons taught by others and the mistakes made are what create the character of a person. We can learn these lessons through our ancestors, and really try to understand the struggles and triumphs that they had to endure hundreds, and thousands of years ago. Civilizations are always gaining new ways of life through new thinking and new ways of doing things. Great changes unfortunately seemingly come from great wars.

The First World War was a battle that shook man kind to its very core. The gruesome habits of men were for the first time displayed to the world. But in order to beat the enemy each country, each empire was forced to expand their knowledge of the world. Many new technologies came to the world, some for the better some for worse, but every one helped to advance the world. Such as machine guns, they greatly helped to defeat the enemy, because very little tactics were made to avoid or over come thee new inventions. Except for the use of trench war fare, troops would dig themselves into the ground to help and avoid the relentless slaughter. With a win from the British, French and Russians against the Germans and Austria-Hungary, brought on a revolution that changed the world forever. The monarchy’s slowly disappeared which brought way to democracy, communism and fascism. There was no more tsar, no more Kaiser, and parliaments were implanted throughout the world. The world had started a change that helped shaped the course of history.

People were being persecuted because of race, religion and ethnicity. The Jewish culture endured great hardship at the hands of the Nazi radicalists led by Adolf Hitler. Britain and France again were forced to defend not only their homelands but others as well. Eventually the united states stepped in turning the tide of the war, allowing the Allies to win the war. But not before horrible massacres, massive destruction and a relentless onslaught. People from all sides were murdered and not diplomatically. The Allies may have won, but everyone lost too much. Although the war was gruesome it did bring many amazing technologies again to the world. Such as the enigma, this eventually leading on the computers, and other useful technologies.
